For you consideration is a beautiful antique Italian made majolica pitcher. The overriding theme here is a Botticelliesque cherub perched on drapes, coupled with a large, all surrounding scallop shell motif that, along with the vibrant colors of the glazes, is so very typical of mid-19th century Italian Majolica.
The dimensions of the jug are 7 inches tall, by 6 inches wide at its widest point – and the base is 4 inches wide. The pictures are good, but don’t really do it justice – it really is a fine example.
The item is signed and pattern number embossed, however I have not been able to ascertain the maker.
